General
The well-shaped breast of a woman embodies symbolically womanhood and attractiveness and sexuality. Whereby the ideal breast shape of course depends on the current fashion and the different cultural preferential. With ideal breast I mean cup size B-C which is mainly presented in the media and by TV stars. Breast surgery is possible from age 18 on, i.E. when the mammary gland is fully developed. Deviation of the breast shape can either be congenital or developed (i.E. pregnancy), oversized, or too small or, of different size. The surgical techniques can tackle and do justice almost any questioning. The applied technique for the tightening/reduction will be explained during consultation (i.e. scar-reduced incision guideline) as well as the particularities concerning shape and result. The patient needs to know that the breast will take its final shape after 6 months.
Surgical techniques
Basically 2 techniques find application. 1. Scar-reduced with scars around the nipple and a vertical line to the crease below the breast and 2. Scar around the nipple, one vertical to and one horizontal to the crease (T-incision). Variations of both techniques are possible. Depending on determination skin/gland will be removed and the breast newly shaped. Using the scar-reduced technique an overcorrection is purposely aspired when shaping because the definite breast shape will finalize only in the following months. This requires the patients’ appropriate patience until the final form has settled. The wounds will be sutured with dissolving multi-layered threads and to be safe drainages are laid. A tape-bandage protects the breast in the first 14 days after the surgery.
Aftertreatment
On the first day after the surgery the drainages are drawn. A week later I will change the first bandage and wound healing checked-up on. A special sports-bra will be adjusted that needs to be worn consistently for the next 6 weeks. This should relieve the breast and support arefined scarring. The threads dissolve by themselves. Further wound healing check-ups come up after 2 and 4 weeks and 6 months after the surgery. Because every breast changes after the intervention the form can only be assessed 6 months after the surgery.
