General
Conducting liposuction has greatly increased over the last years and is among one of the most frequent aesthetic surgeries that are being performed. This certainly is not only due to a growing trend for cosmetic surgery but also motivated by the advancement of the operation techniques which can predict the results quite well. These days it is possible sucking 3-4 liters of fat in only one session without any note worthy blood-loss or other undesired side effects. Nevertheless this operation requires the surgeons’ extensive experience to come toan optimum result. Liposuction can be done with the use of modern techniques and under the application of micro cannulas on almostany body-part: hereby following areas have mainly been worked on: double chin, upper arms, breast, abdomen, hips, buttocks, back, knee, breeches, thighs (outer- and inner-), lower legs (calves), ankles.
Technique
The suction is conducted under local anaesthesia (tumescent technique) when working on smaller areas. Larger areas are operated underlight sleep or general anaesthesia. A sodium chloride solution supplemented with local anaesthesia, adrenaline and sodium bicarbonate will be injected. In one session up to 3-4 liters can be inducted into the adult body. Then the sodium chloride solution needs to act up on for half an hour before the actual liposuction starts. Liposuction is performed with modern micro cannulas with a diameter of 1-3 mm. The surgeon’ experience, his skills and pinpoint precision warrant the desired outcome and assure an uncomplicated process. Depending on the extent, the surgery takes about 1-3 hours and the incisions of the cannulas are sown with a thin stitch. The patient will be plastered with a special tape right after the surgery and a previously fitted bodice will be put on.
Aftertreatment
After an ambulant operation the patient may go home right away if company is present. In case of a stationary surgery the patient will be discharged the next day. For the next 4-6 weeks the fitted bodice should be worn as long as possible. The threads will dissolve by themselves and check-up occurs after 1 week and again after 3 and 6 months. The recovery until the final result takes at least 6 months, so that an evaluation is not possible until then. Fat cells that have been removed by liposuction are permanently eliminated. The newly gained alignment should be incentive for a healthy nutrition and adequate movement/sports to conserve and tighten the obtained bodyshape.
