General
The nose inhabits a central position in the face in any regard. A distinct alteration - be it a hump on the bridge, a long, skewed or saddle nose - can influence the appearance of the face. In many cases this can lead to a huge psychological strain. Oftentimes an additional medical reason is necessary for an operation. The health insurances contribute to the costs of an operation. The desired changes together with you in a personal consultation. I can present the expected results based upon a computer simulation. Men usually strive for a straight nose profile while woman prefer a small curve, which stresses the feminine facial lines ideally. Oftentimes a nose reshaping is performed with regard to a profile plastic surgery which is optimized with a chin correction to balance out the harmony of the facial profile.
Surgical technique
Nose surgery is almost always performed under general anaesthetic. The access is either from the inside of the nose, which leaves no evident scar from the outside, or from the outside of the nose, which leaves a practically unnoticeable scar on the bridge. The choice for the access depends on the anatomy of the nose. For a complete reshaping of the nose cartilage and bone parts are reduced, remodeled or even rebuilt in order to obtain the desired result. Here the surgeons’ experience and talent ensure the best success. Swelling and hematoma differ from patient to patient. Generally minor hematoma are dissolved after 10-14 days, the complete recovery and formation takes approximately 4-6 months though.
Follow-up treatment
Normally the patient does not feel pain after the surgery. Usually smaller swabs are put in. For safety reasons the nose is put in plaster that can be removed after about 7 days and exchanged for a tape-bandage for another 7 days. The stay takes one day in the hospital. After about 14 days the patient is fit for work again. Physical strain should be avoided for further 4-6 weeks, as well as sauna, sun and mountainsun.
